Another great recipe from my grandmother! When she brought this to our last family gathering, we had to wrestle each other for them. I managed to get just one. But I have the recipe now! Mwahahaha! The toughest part of this is the onion. If you have a small grater, this will help nicely. What I will do when it comes time for simmering is combine everything in a crock pot so it's easy to take with me to parties.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ground meat: A combination of ground beef and pork is ideal for meatballs, as it provides a good balance of flavor and texture. You can also use ground turkey or chicken, but they may be a bit drier.
  • Season the meatball mixture well: Don't be shy with the seasonings! Garlic, onion, parsley, and oregano are all classic Italian flavors that pair well with meatballs. You can also add a touch of red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.
  • Don't overwork the meatball mixture: Overworking the meatball mixture will make the meatballs tough. Just mix the ingredients until they are combined.
  • Form the meatballs into uniform shapes: This will help them cook evenly. You can use a meatball scoop or your hands to form the meatballs.
  • Brown the meatballs before simmering them: Browning the meatballs in a little oil will help to seal in the flavor and prevent them from falling apart.
  • Use a good quality cranberry sauce: The cranberry sauce is an important part of this dish, so don't skimp on quality. You can use homemade cranberry sauce or a good quality store-bought sauce.
  • Serve the meatballs with your favorite sides: Mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta are all good choices.

Conclusion:

Meatballs with cranberry sauce is a classic comfort food dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. With a few simple tips, you can make delicious meatballs that your family and friends will love. So next time you're looking for a hearty and flavorful meal, give this recipe a try!
