Time 1h25m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 egg
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup salsa
2 tablespoons taco seasoning
1/4 cup diced onion
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup to 1 cup crushed doritos (flavor of your choice)
1 pound hamburger
extra shredded cheddar cheese for the top
1/2 cup salsa for the top
OPTIONAL:
garnish with: lettuce, tomatoes, onions, black olives, salsa, and sour cream

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl, whisk together the first 6 ingredients (except doritos, hamburger and the EXTRA cheese and salsa). Add hamburger. Mix well. Add doritos until it has the consistency of regular meatloaf. ( you may add more or less doritos as desired texture) Place meatloaf mixture in a baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for an hour or so until done. Add the extra salsa and then the cheese on top. Return to the oven just until the cheese melts. (5 minutes) Serve with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, black olives, salsa, and sour cream if desired.

Tips:

  • To ensure the taco loaf is cooked evenly, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. It should reach 160°F (71°C) for ground beef and 165°F (74°C) for ground turkey or chicken.
  • If you don't have taco seasoning, you can make your own by combining chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  • You can use any type of cheese you like for the topping. Cheddar, Monterey Jack, and pepper Jack are all popular choices.
  • For a healthier version of taco loaf, use lean ground beef or turkey, and top it with non-fat Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
  • Serve taco loaf with your favorite taco toppings, such as lettuce, tomatoes, onions, guacamole, and salsa.

Conclusion:

Taco loaf is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences.
