Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Drink Recipes

Number Of Ingredients 3

1/2 ounce dried verbena leaves
1/2 cup superfine sugar
1 1/3 cups freshly squeezed Meyer-lemon juice (about 12 lemons)

Steps:

  • Prepare an ice bath. In a medium saucepan combine 1 quart water and verbena leaves. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; cover, and remove from heat. Allow to steep for about 20 minutes. Chill.
  • Place tea, sugar, lemon juice, and 4 cups ice in a 3-quart pitcher. Stir with a wooden spoon to dissolve sugar.

Tips:

  • Choose the right lemons: Meyer lemons are the best choice for this recipe, as they have a sweeter and less tart flavor than regular lemons. If you can't find Meyer lemons, you can use regular lemons, but you may need to add more sugar or honey to taste.
  • Use filtered or spring water: Tap water can contain impurities that can affect the taste of the lemonade. If you can, use filtered or spring water for the best results.
  • Chill the lemonade before serving: This will make the lemonade more refreshing and enjoyable. You can also add ice cubes to the lemonade when you serve it.
  • Garnish the lemonade with fresh herbs or fruit: This will add a pop of color and flavor to the lemonade. Some good options include mint, rosemary, thyme, basil, strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries.

Conclusion:

Meyer lemonade is a delicious and refreshing drink that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste.
