A friend gave me this recipe more than 30 years ago. It is my husband's favorite treat. I like these with pecans or walnuts. If you do not like nuts, omit the nuts and use 3 cups Rice Krispies. -Melinda Lord, Washington, Iowa

NOEL NUT BALLS
No holiday cookie tin would be complete without at least a few Noel nut balls, rich nut-and-butter domes, rolled in confectioners' sugar to resemble miniature snowballs. In Martha's family, the cookie dough was traditionally made with a touch of bourbon (or orange juice), for extra flavor.

Tips:
- Use a food processor to quickly and easily chop the nuts and dates.
- If you don't have a food processor, you can chop the nuts and dates by hand with a knife.

- If the dough is too wet, add more flour until it reaches a dough-like consistency.
- If the dough is too dry, add more butter until it reaches a dough-like consistency.
- Be sure to roll the dough into balls that are about 1 inch in diameter.
- If the dough balls are too big, they will be difficult to coat in the powdered sugar.
