Tips:

  • Use a good quality, firm bread, such as sourdough or French bread. This will help the sandwiches hold together well when dipping and frying.
  • Spread the butter evenly on the bread slices. This will help the bread brown evenly and prevent it from getting soggy.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the bread slices. This will help create clean, even cuts and prevent the bread from tearing.
  • Generously fill the sandwiches with cheese and ham. This will ensure that each bite is packed with flavor.
  • Dip the sandwiches in the egg mixture completely. This will help the bread absorb the egg and create a golden brown crust when fried.
  • Fry the sandwiches in a hot skillet until golden brown on both sides. Keep a close eye on the sandwiches to prevent them from burning.
  • Drain the sandwiches on paper towels to remove any excess oil.
  • Serve the sandwiches immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
