Provided by Beth Vachon Parker

Categories     Cookies

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 favorite basic cookie recipe
2 c any type of leftover cereal you have in your cupboard
1 pkg chocolate chips, mini
1 pkg peanut butter chips or candies
1 c (optional) coconut
1 c (optional) raisins or dried cranberries

Steps:

  • 1. Mix wet and dry ingredients together as indicated by the cookie recipe of your choice.
  • 2. Add mini chocolate chips (replacing regular sized chips), cereal, and optional ingredients if desired.
  • 3. Bake (as directed by cookie recipe) in greased muffin tins. Cool and serve or freeze.

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas. The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your cereal bars will be.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the cereal bars tough.
  • Press the batter firmly into the pan. This will help the cereal bars hold together.
  • Bake the cereal bars until they are golden brown. This will ensure that they are cooked through.
  • Let the cereal bars cool completely before cutting them. This will help them hold their shape.
