RED WINE PUNCH

Red Wine Punch image

This is a good punch that people seem to like, even those that don't care for red wine. The prep time does not include the chill time for the punch or the freezing of the ice ring if using one. (You can also use the recipe for wine coolers.)

Tips:

  • Choose the right wine: For a richer flavor, opt for a full-bodied red wine like Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot. If you prefer a lighter flavor, go for a Pinot Noir or Beaujolais.
  • Use fresh pomegranate juice: Fresh pomegranate juice adds a vibrant flavor to the punch. If you can't find fresh pomegranate juice, you can use bottled or canned juice, but make sure it's unsweetened.
  • Add some spices: Spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves add a warm and festive flavor to the punch. You can also add a bit of orange zest for a citrusy kick.
  • Simmer, don't boil: Simmering the punch over low heat will help to infuse the flavors without boiling off the alcohol.
  • Serve warm: Mulled wine is best served warm, so make sure to heat it through before serving.
