Tips: Baking Perfect Banana Muffins

  • Use ripe bananas. The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your muffins will be. If you don't have any ripe bananas on hand, you can speed up the ripening process by placing them in a paper bag with an apple. The apple will release ethylene gas, which will help the bananas to ripen more quickly.
  • Mash the bananas well. This will help to ensure that they are evenly distributed throughout the batter and that your muffins have a smooth texture.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make your muffins tough and dense. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Fill the muffin cups only about 2/3 full. This will allow the muffins to rise properly without overflowing.
  • Bake the muffins at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes. Or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
