HUMMUS WITH PEANUT BUTTER

Hummus With Peanut Butter image

I know, I know! There are 183 hummus recipes! But none have peanut butter in them. I got this from a nutritionist who's (now grown) children would only eat hummus if she used peanut butter instead of tahini. I like it this way rather than the tahini way. Try it. You'll be pleasantly surprised! I put the olive oil right in the blender instead of drizzling on afterwards. Then I eat it with Kashi TLC crackers right out of the container.

Tips:

  • Choose the right chickpeas: Dried chickpeas are best for hummus, as they have a better flavor and texture than canned chickpeas. If using dried chickpeas, soak them overnight in water before cooking.
  • Cook the chickpeas properly: Chickpeas should be cooked until they are tender but still hold their shape. Overcooked chickpeas will make for a grainy hummus.
  • Use a good quality tahini: Tahini is a key ingredient in hummus, so it's important to use a good quality brand. Make sure the tahini is fresh and has a smooth, creamy texture.
  • Season the hummus to taste: Hummus should be seasoned with salt, pepper, and lemon juice to taste. You can also add other spices, such as cumin, paprika, or garlic powder, to taste.
  • Chill the hummus before serving: Hummus is best served chilled. This will help the flavors to meld and will make the hummus more refreshing.
  • Serve the hummus with a variety of toppings: Hummus can be served with a variety of toppings, such as olive oil, paprika, chopped parsley, or toasted pine nuts. This will add flavor and texture to the hummus.

Conclusion:

Hummus is a delicious and versatile dip or spread that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. It is a good source of protein, fiber, and healthy fats. By following these tips, you can make a delicious hummus that will impress your friends and family.
