MOZZARELLA IN CARROZZA

Categories     appetizer

Time 15m

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 slices white bread, crusts removed
1 fist-sized ball mozzarella, cut into approximately 1/4-inch slices, then strips
1/2 cup whole milk
3 heaping tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 egg
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup olive oil (not extra-virgin), for frying

Steps:

  • Make sandwiches out of the bread and mozzarella, leaving a little margin around the edges unfilled with cheese, and press the edges together with your fingers to help seal. (One of the advantages of soft white bread is that it easily smushed together.) Pour the milk in to 1 soup bowl, the flour into another, and beat the egg with salt and pepper in another. Warm the oil in the frying pan over medium heat. Dunk the sandwiches briefly, 1 by 1, in the milk, then dredge in the flour, then dip in the beaten egg. Fry in hot oil on each side until crisp and golden and remove to a paper towel. Cut in half and apply to face.

CARAMEL CROISSANT PUDDING

Caramel Croissant Pudding image

I found this recipe in, of all places, People Magazine. It was done by one of my favorite cooks, Nigella Lawson. I mean.....its CARAMEL FOLKS!

Provided by Jamallah Bergman @pmyodb1

Categories     Puddings

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 - croissants (stale)
1/2 cup(s) sugar
2 tablespoon(s) water
1/2 cup(s) heavy cream
1/2 cup(s) whole milk
2 tablespoon(s) bourbon
2 large eggs,beaten

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 350. Tear croissants into pieces and place them in a small gratin dish that holds about 2 cups.
  • Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and swirl around to help dissolve the sugar before placing the saucepan on a burner over medium to high heat.
  • Caramelize the mixture by letting it boil for 3 to 5 minutes or until it turns a deep amber color.
  • Reduce the heat to low, add the cream and, while whisking, add the milk and bourbon. Any solid toffee that forms in the pan will dissolve easily if you keep whisking over low heat. Take the pan off the heat and, still whisking, add the beaten eggs until it forms a custard.
  • Pour the custard over the croissants, and -if the croissants are extremely stale-let the pudding stand for 10 minutes to steep.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best results.
  • Make sure the croissants are stale before using them. This will help them to absorb the custard mixture more evenly.
  • If you don't have time to make your own caramel sauce, you can use a store-bought variety.
  • Be careful not to overcook the pudding. It should be set but still slightly wobbly in the center.
  • Serve the pudding warm or at room temperature. It can also be chilled for a few hours before serving.

Conclusion:

Nigella Lawson's Caramel Croissant Pudding is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its rich and decadent flavor, this pudding is sure to be a hit with your family and friends. So next time you're looking for a special dessert, give this recipe a try.
