JANE'S BARBECUED SHORT RIBS

Jane's Barbecued Short Ribs image

A recipe I got from an dear friend many, many years ago, who got it from her mother. Very easy, and wonderful flavor. Good in the summer and even better in the winter on a cold night. Can also cook it in the slow cooker. Then when you come home from work, all you have to do is either grill or broil them to brown them before serving. Serve with mashed potatoes or potato salad or egg noodles.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Short Ribs: Opt for high-quality, well-marbled short ribs for the best flavor and texture.
  • Proper Preparation: Trim excess fat and remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs to ensure even cooking.
  • Seasoning and Marinating: Apply a flavorful rub or marinade to enhance the taste of the ribs. Let them marinate for several hours or overnight for maximum flavor penetration.
  • Cooking Method: Whether using a slow cooker, oven, or grill, cook the short ribs at a low and slow temperature to allow the connective tissues to break down and tenderize.
  • Basting and Monitoring: Baste the ribs periodically with the cooking juices or a flavorful sauce to keep them moist and prevent drying out. Keep an eye on the ribs to ensure they reach the desired tenderness.
  • Resting before Serving: Let the cooked short ribs rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in more tender and flavorful meat.
