OLD FASHIONED BANANA BREAD

Old Fashioned Banana Bread image

A recipe from defunct magazine, City and Country Home. I've never tasted better. Delicious warm or cold, cut in slices and buttered. I actually prefer it after its been cooled down and refrigerated. The texture is more chewy and moist.

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your banana bread will be.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing can result in a tough, dense loaf of banana bread.
  • Let the batter rest for a few minutes before baking: This will allow the gluten in the flour to relax, resulting in a more tender loaf of bread.
  • Bake the banana bread at a moderate temperature: A lower oven temperature will help to prevent the bread from overcooking and becoming dry.
  • Check the bread for doneness with a toothpick: When a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean, the bread is done.

Conclusion:

Old-school banana bread is a classic recipe that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its moist, tender crumb and sweet, banana flavor, it's the perfect treat for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. So next time you have some ripe bananas on hand, be sure to give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
