Tips

  • Use fresh oranges: Fresh oranges provide the best flavor and texture for this salad. If you can't find fresh oranges, you can use canned mandarin oranges, but be sure to drain them well before adding them to the salad.
  • Chill the gelatin mixture before adding the whipped cream: This will help to prevent the whipped cream from curdling.
  • Use a mold that is at least 6 cups in volume: A smaller mold will not be able to accommodate all of the salad ingredients.
  • Unmold the salad at least 30 minutes before serving: This will give the salad time to set completely.
  • Serve the salad with a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of orange juice: This will add a touch of sweetness and richness.

Conclusion

Orange Buttermilk Gelatin Salad is a classic American dessert that is perfect for potlucks, picnics, and other gatherings. It is easy to make and can be made ahead of time, making it a convenient option for busy cooks. With its sweet and tangy flavor, creamy texture, and refreshing citrus taste, this salad is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
