Provided by cecelia26_

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup graham cracker crumbs
3 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
1 (3 oz.) package Jell-O Orange Flavor Gelatin
1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened, divided
1 tub (8 oz.) thawed Cool Whip, divided
1/2 cup cold milk
1 (3.4 oz.) package Jell-O instant vanilla pudding
2 teaspoons orange zest

Steps:

  • 1.Mix graham cracker crumbs, butter, and sugar; press onto bottom of an 8-inch square pan. Refrigerate until ready to use. 2.In a small bowl, microwave juice for about 1 minute on high. Add to gelatin mix in small bowl; stir 2 minutes until completely dissolved. 3.Gradually add to half the cream cheese in a medium bowl, beating with mixer after each addition until blended. 4.Whisk in 1 cup Cool Whip. Spread over crust. Freeze while preparing next layer. 5.Beat remaining cream cheese and milk in a separate medium bowl until blended. 6.Add dry pudding mix; beat 2 minutes. 7.Stir in remaining Cool Whip and orange zest. Spread over gelatin layer. 8.Refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving.

Tips:

  • To make the orange cream filling, start by whisking together the granulated sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium bowl. In a saucepan, combine the orange juice and orange zest. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Slowly whisk the hot orange juice mixture into the sugar mixture. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 minute, or until the mixture has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  • To make the whipped cream topping, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to overbeat, or the whipped cream will become grainy.
  • To assemble the bars, start by spreading the orange cream filling evenly into the prepared crust. Top with the whipped cream and spread it out evenly. Freeze the bars for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before cutting into bars and serving.
  • For a fun variation, you can add a layer of chocolate ganache to the bars. To make the ganache, melt 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of heavy cream together in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir until smooth. Pour the ganache over the whipped cream layer and spread it out evenly. Freeze the bars for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before cutting into bars and serving.
  • Conclusion:

Orange creamsicle bars are a delicious and refreshing treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking with different toppings and flavors. So next time you are looking for a sweet treat, give orange creamsicle bars a try. You won't be disappointed!
