ORANGE JULIUS ROLL-UPS (DEHYDRATOR) (RAW FOODS)

Orange Julius Roll-Ups (Dehydrator) (Raw Foods) image

Adapted from a recipe on the Nesco Dehydrators website. This is a basic recipe and I'm not sure yet how many batches of it are needed to fill up a roll-up dehydrator sheet. Two batches didn't fill it up and my "roll-ups" came out lacy. But still good and gobble-worthy. The website says the sheets will hold 3 cups worth.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe oranges: Selecting oranges with a deep orange color and a firm, heavy feel ensures juiciness and optimal flavor.
  • Zest the oranges before juicing: To capture the vibrant citrus flavor, grate the zest from the oranges before juicing. This adds an extra layer of flavor to the filling.
  • Use fresh orange juice: Freshly squeezed orange juice provides the best flavor and nutrients compared to store-bought juice.
  • Chill the cream cheese: Softened cream cheese is easier to spread, but chilling it beforehand helps it hold its shape better when rolling the crepes.
  • Spread the filling evenly: To achieve a consistent and flavorful filling distribution, spread it evenly over the crepes before rolling them up.
  • Chill the roll-ups before slicing: Chilling the roll-ups firms them up, making them easier to slice into clean and even pieces.
  • Garnish with orange zest and powdered sugar: For an elegant presentation, sprinkle grated orange zest and powdered sugar on top of the sliced roll-ups.

Conclusion:

Orange Julius roll-ups offer a delightful combination of citrusy freshness and creamy sweetness. With their vibrant orange color and tantalizing flavor, these roll-ups are a perfect treat for any occasion.
