The Cookbook is from the National Council of Jewish Women --? date This recipe was put into the cookbook by Sheila Weilheimer. This recipe makes wonderful, abeit a bit different, Yams. The recipe is very easy to make. I have changed some of the directions to make things clearer. I also added a bit of butter ( the original recipe had none so this could be made that way-fat free!) . Tips for Making Orange Liqueur Yams

  • Choose the right yams: Look for firm, plump yams with smooth, unblemished skin. Avoid any yams that have soft spots or bruises.
  • Don't overcook the yams: Yams are best when they are cooked until they are tender but still slightly firm. Overcooking will make them mushy and bland.
  • Use fresh orange juice and zest: Fresh orange juice and zest add a bright, citrusy flavor to the yams. If you don't have fresh oranges, you can use bottled orange juice and store-bought orange zest, but the flavor will not be as good.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices: The spices in this recipe can be adjusted to your taste. If you like a sweeter dish, add more brown sugar. If you like a spicier dish, add more cayenne pepper or ginger.
  • Serve the yams immediately: Orange liqueur yams are best served immediately after they are cooked. If you need to make them ahead of time, you can cook them up to 2 days in advance and reheat them in a warm oven before serving.

Conclusion

Orange liqueur yams are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. They are sweet, tangy, and flavorful, and they are sure to be a hit with your family and friends. So next time you're looking for a new way to serve yams, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
