ORANGE PRALINES

Orange Pralines image

Pralines with just a subtle hint of orange -a different twist to a timeless classic. I lay a piece of waxed paper on top of a kitchen towel on my table and drop the pralines by the spoonful on top of the waxed paper. I find it's easier to pick them up this way and less likely to break.

John's Orange Praline Pecans image

I created this recipe to mimic a praline I swiped from my brother. This is a not-too-grainy, not-too-creamy praline with a hint of orange flavor.

Tips:

  • Choose the right yams: Select firm, unblemished yams with smooth skin. Avoid any that are soft or have bruises.
  • Boil the yams until tender: Before cooking the yams in the orange praline sauce, boil them until they are tender but still hold their shape. This will ensure that they are cooked evenly and absorb the flavors of the sauce.
  • Make the orange praline sauce ahead of time: The orange praline sauce can be made up to 2 days in advance. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop.
  • Serve the yams warm: Orange praline yams are best served warm, so reheat them gently before serving if you have made them ahead of time.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs: For a pop of color and flavor, garnish the yams with fresh herbs such as parsley, cilantro, or thyme.

Conclusion:

Orange praline yams are a delicious and festive dish that is perfect for special occasions. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like your yams sweet, savory, or somewhere in between, this recipe is sure to please. So next time you are looking for a unique and flavorful side dish, give orange praline yams a try!
