Time 8h15m

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 lb beef ribs, cut into 3-inch lengths
1 onion, chopped
1 Tbsp butter
2/3 c catsup
3 Tbsp soy sauce
2 Tbsp cider vinegar
2 Tbsp brown sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Place short ribs on a broiler pan. Broil until well-browned to remove excess fat.
  • 2. Transfer to crockery pot . Saute onion in butter until limp and golden. Pour in catsup; soy sauce, vinegar and brown sugar. Heat until blended.
  • 3. Pour over ribs. Cover. Cook on LOW 8 hours.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Select beef ribs that are meaty and have a good amount of marbling. This will ensure that the ribs are tender and flavorful after cooking.
  • Prepare the ribs properly: Before cooking, remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. This will help the ribs cook more evenly and will also make them more tender.
  • Use a flavorful rub: A good rub will help to enhance the flavor of the ribs. Be sure to use a rub that contains a variety of spices and herbs.
  • Cook the ribs slowly: The best way to cook beef ribs is to cook them slowly over low heat. This will allow the ribs to cook through evenly and will also help to tenderize them.
  • Use a smoker: If you have a smoker, using it to cook the ribs is a great option. Smoking the ribs will give them a delicious smoky flavor.
  • Baste the ribs: While the ribs are cooking, baste them with a mixture of your favorite barbecue sauce or marinade. This will help to keep the ribs moist and flavorful.
  • Let the ribs rest: After the ribs are cooked, let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the ribs, making them even more tender and flavorful.
