Provided by á-4084

Number Of Ingredients 6

8 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
3 ounces (about 1 1/4 cups) parmesan, grated
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary leaves, chopped
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Using the paddle attachment on a stand mixer, beat the butter until creamy. Scrape down the bowl with a rubber spatula. Add the parmesan cheese, flour, salt, thyme, and pepper, and beat until it clumps together into a ball, pulls away from the sides of the bowl, and few, if any, loose crumbs remain. Wrap the log tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for 30 minutes, or until firm. While the dough chills, preheat the oven to 350ºF. Slice the log into roughly 1/4 to 1/2-inch pieces (just make sure they're all the same thickness). Place the dough slices about an inch apart on the half-sheet pan and bake for 16 to 22 minutes (depending on their thickness), or until firm and golden brown.

Tips:

  • Chill the dough before baking. This will help the crackers hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the crackers. This will give you clean, even edges.
  • Don't overcrowd the baking sheet. Make sure there is enough space between the crackers so that they can bake evenly.
  • Bake the crackers until they are golden brown. This will ensure that they are crispy and flavorful.
  • Let the crackers cool completely before serving. This will help them to firm up and become even crispier.

Conclusion:

Parmesan thyme crackers are a delicious and versatile snack that can be enjoyed on their own or served with dips, spreads, or cheese. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a batch of delicious crackers that will be sure to please everyone.
