Yield 2 Servings, Can be doubled

Number Of Ingredients 7

8 to 9 ounces fresh or dried herb flavored fettuccine
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup purchased chunky garden style pasta sauce
1/4 cup dry red wine
1 6-ounce can solid white tuna packed in water, drained
1/4 cup sliced pitted brine-cured olives (such as Kalamata)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil

Steps:

  • Cook pasta in large pot of boiling salted water until just tender but still firm to bite, about 2 minutes for fresh and 10 minutes for dried. Drain pasta. Return to same pot and toss with oil.
  • Combine sauce and wine in heavy medium saucepan. Bring to simmer over medium heat. Mix in tuna and olives, being careful to keep tuna in fairly large pieces. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Divide pasta between 2 plates. Using large spoon, make indentation in centers of pasta to create "nests." Spoon sauce into centers. Sprinkle each with basil.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better the pasta nests will taste. If possible, use freshly made pasta dough and fresh vegetables.
  • Cook the pasta al dente: Al dente means "to the tooth" in Italian, and it refers to the pasta being cooked to a slightly firm texture. This will help the pasta nests hold their shape when they are baked.
  • Don't overfill the pasta nests: The pasta nests should be filled with just enough filling so that they can be closed without spilling over. If the pasta nests are overfilled, they will be more likely to break apart.
  • Bake the pasta nests in a hot oven: The pasta nests should be baked in a hot oven so that they can cook through quickly and evenly. This will help prevent the pasta from becoming soggy.
  • Serve the pasta nests immediately: The pasta nests are best served immediately after they are baked. This will ensure that they are hot and crispy.

Conclusion:

Pasta nests are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for lunch, dinner, or even as a snack. They are easy to make and can be filled with a variety of ingredients, making them a great option for a quick and easy meal.
