Time 3h30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 ½ cup warm water (approximately 110°F)
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter, room temperature and sliced into 1/4 inch pieces
1½ tsp salt
2 tbsp white sugar
4 cups bread flour
2 ¼ tsp yeast (instant, active dry, or bread machine)

Steps:

  • Add the ingredients in the order listed to the bread maker pan. The ingredients are listed in the order that Cuisinart machines require them to go. Check your brand's manual for the correct order to add ingredients. If it differs, add them in the order that your manual states.
  • Select the basic/white bread setting. Choose the 2 lb loaf size and your preferred crust color. *see notes for making a smaller loaf
  • Optional: At the end of the last kneading cycle, remove the kneading paddle. If you miss this step, remove the paddle using oven mitts after the bread cools.
  • When baking is complete, remove from the bread pan immediately. Cool on a wire rack for at least 15-30 minutes before slicing.

Tips:

  • Make sure to use bread flour. It has a higher protein content than all-purpose flour, which will result in a chewier, more flavorful loaf of bread.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the bread tough. Mix the dough just until it comes together.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place. The ideal temperature for rising dough is between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. A warm spot in your kitchen, such as near the stove or oven, is a good place to let the dough rise.
  • Don't overcrowd the bread pan. The dough should fill no more than two-thirds of the pan. If the pan is too crowded, the bread will not rise properly.
  • Bake the bread until it is golden brown. The internal temperature of the bread should be around 200 degrees Fahrenheit when it is done.

Conclusion:

Making white bread in a bread machine is a great way to enjoy fresh, homemade bread without a lot of effort. By following these tips, you can make sure that your bread turns out perfect every time.
