SIMPLE GARLIC AND BASIL PESTO

Simple Garlic and Basil Pesto image

This recipe is something that you can make quickly and easily using a blender. Everything you need is easy to find in your local supermarket. This paste is great for putting on or in meat and pastas, or with cottage cheese in stuffed pasta shells. Once I start making this, the orders from friends and family keep coming in. For best taste, pesto should be heated up in the meal it's being prepared with.

You can blend it into bread or muffin mix. You can make Pesto Pizza. You can even add heavy cream if you desire a "creamy pesto sauce". The key is to use only FRESH BASIL. Note: Pine nuts are AKA Pignoli Nuts

Tips:

  • Use fresh basil for the best flavor. If you don't have fresh basil, you can use dried basil, but the flavor will be less intense.
  • Use a variety of nuts in your pesto. Pine nuts are the traditional choice, but you can also use walnuts, almonds, or pistachios. Each type of nut will give the pesto a different flavor.
  • Don't over-process your pesto. You want it to be chunky, not smooth. If you over-process it, the pesto will lose its flavor.
  • Add a little bit of lemon juice or white wine vinegar to your pesto for a brighter flavor.
  • Use pesto as a sauce for pasta, pizza, or grilled vegetables. You can also use it as a dip for bread or crackers.

Conclusion:

Pesto is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used in a variety of dishes. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, try making a batch of pesto. You won't be disappointed.
