Tips:
- Use fresh pineapple. Fresh pineapple has a brighter flavor and more nutrients than canned pineapple. If you must use canned pineapple, choose pineapple packed in its own juice, not syrup.
- Don't overcook the pineapple. Overcooked pineapple becomes tough and chewy. Cook it just until it is tender and juicy.
- Use a variety of spices. Pineapple pairs well with a variety of spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves. Experiment to find your favorite combination.
- Don't be afraid to add other fruits. Pineapple pie is a great way to use up leftover fruit. Try adding berries, bananas, or mangoes to your pie.
- Serve pineapple pie warm or cold. Pineapple pie can be served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or cold with a dollop of whipped cream.
