Yield makes about 250 g (2 cups )

Number Of Ingredients 6

100 g mini pretzels about 1/4 (16-ounce) bag (2 cups)
60 g light brown sugar 1/4 cup tightly packed
25 g sugar 2 tablespoons
20 g milk powder 1/4 cup
10 g malt powder 1 tablespoon
100 g butter, melted 7 tablespoons

Steps:

  • 1. Heat the oven to 275°F.
  • 2. Pour the pretzels in a medium bowl and crush them with your hands to one-quarter of their original size. Add the milk powder, malt powder, sugar, and salt and toss to mix. Add the butter and toss to coat. As you toss, the butter will act as glue, binding the dry ingredients to the pretzels and creating small clusters.
  • 3. Spread the clusters on a parchment- or Silpat-lined sheet pan and bake for 20 minutes, at which point they should look toasted, smell buttery, and crunch gently when cooled slightly and chewed.
  • 4. Cool the pretzel crunch completely before storing or using in a recipe. Stored in an airtight container at room temperature, the crunch will keep fresh for 1 week; in the fridge or freezer, it will keep for 1 month.

CARAMEL PRETZEL CRUNCH BROWNIES

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 box betty crocker brownie mix
water, vegetable oil and eggs as called for on brownie mix box
1 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
14 oz bag of caramels, unwrapped
1/4 c butter or margarine
1 Tbsp milk
1 c pretzels, crushed
1/3 c toffee bits

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees (F). Grease or spray 13 x 9-inch pan. (I lined the pan with parchment paper, makes for easier removal of brownies from pan).
  • 2. Make brownie batter as directed on box, using water, oil, and eggs; stir in 1/2 cup chocolate chips (reserve 1/2 cup). Spread into pan.
  • 3. Bake 24 to 28 minutes or until toothpick inserted 1 inch from edge comes out almost clean. Cool 5 minutes.
  • 4. Meanwhile, in medium microwaveable bowl, microwave caramels, butter, and milk uncovered on High 2 to 3 minutes, stirring once, until caramels are melted. Carefully pour and spread over warm brownies.
  • 5. Sprinkle with pretzels, remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips and toffee bits. Cool completely.
  • 6. Cut into 24 pieces. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use fresh pretzels: Fresh pretzels will give you the best crunch and flavor. If you can't find fresh pretzels, you can use day-old pretzels, but they may not be as crispy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pretzels: When you're baking the pretzels, don't overcrowd them on the baking sheet. Give them enough space so that they can cook evenly.
  • Watch the pretzels closely: The pretzels can burn easily, so watch them closely while they're baking. As soon as they start to turn golden brown, remove them from the oven.
  • Let the pretzels cool completely: Once the pretzels are baked, let them cool completely before you break them into pieces. This will help them to stay crispy.
  • Store the pretzels in an airtight container: Store the pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Pretzel crunch is a delicious and easy-to-make snack. It's perfect for parties, potlucks, or just for enjoying at home. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a batch of pretzel crunch that everyone will love. So next time you're looking for a crunchy snack, give pretzel crunch a try. You won't be disappointed!
