Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 lb hamburg
1 1/2 c water
1/2 large onion
3-4 stick of celery (chopped)
1 can(s) bean sprouts
1 can(s) sliced or whole chestnuts
1 can(s) sliced mushrooms or peas
SAUCE:
1/2 c water
2 Tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp gravy master
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
1 tsp sugar
topping 1 can chow mein noodles
I ADJUST THIS SAUCE BY ADDING MORE SOY SAUCE AND WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE TO GIVE IT A LITTLE KICK AS THEY SAY.

Steps:

  • 1. Fry hamburg in large skillet ~ drain grease if needed. Pour water in and add chopped celery and onion ~cover ~ let simmer til tender (10-15 Min)
  • 2. Add canned bean sprouts and canned sliced or whole chestnuts that have been drained and rinsed under cold water then add to pan and heat til hot. (can also add canned mushrooms, whole or sliced)
  • 3. Sauce: mix all ingredients together and stir as you add to hamburg ~ add more water as needed. (I add more soy sauce and worcestershire sauce to give it more zip)
  • 4. Pour all over boiled Rice (around 2 cups) and top with chow mein noodles. QUICK & EASY !!!!!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. Fresh vegetables, lean protein, and flavorful sauces will make a big difference in the final dish.
  • Don't overcrowd the wok or pan. This will prevent the noodles from cooking evenly and becoming mushy.
  • Cook the noodles according to the package directions. Overcooked noodles will be soft and mushy, while undercooked noodles will be hard and chewy.
  • Add the vegetables and protein to the wok or pan in stages. This will help to prevent them from overcrowding and becoming soggy.
  • Stir-fry the ingredients over high heat until they are cooked through. This will help to create a nice caramelized flavor.
  • Add the sauce to the wok or pan and stir-fry until the ingredients are evenly coated.
  • Serve the chow mein immediately, garnished with green onions, sesame seeds, or crushed red pepper flakes.

Conclusion:

Chow mein is a delicious and versatile dish that can be made with a variety of ingredients. With a little planning and preparation, you can easily make a delicious chow mein at home. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give chow mein a try.
