QUICK (MICROWAVE) AND NUTRITIOUS STEEL CUT OATMEAL

Quick (Microwave) and Nutritious Steel Cut Oatmeal image

This is from McCann's website. I love that you can use the microwave and not have to worry about scorching your pot on the stovetop. Of course, you can always use a double boiler, but that can take a while. I always enjoy steel cut oats because they are more nutritious than rolled oats and have a nice, nutty texture. Note: Cooking times may have to be adjusted for your microwave oven wattage. I have 1000 watts and had to cook 5 minutes covered and 11 minutes uncovered.

Tips:

  • Use the right ratio of oats to water. The general rule is 1 cup of oats to 2 cups of water. However, you may need to adjust this ratio slightly depending on the type of oats you are using and the desired consistency.
  • Add salt to the water. This will help to enhance the flavor of the oats.
  • Use a microwave-safe bowl. Make sure the bowl is large enough to accommodate the oats and water without boiling over.
  • Cook the oats on high power for 2-3 minutes. Stir the oats halfway through the cooking time.
  • Let the oats stand for 1 minute before serving. This will allow the oats to finish cooking and absorb any remaining liquid.
  • Top the oats with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings include berries, nuts, seeds, and sweeteners.

Conclusion:

Microwave steel-cut oatmeal is a quick and nutritious breakfast option that can be tailored to your individual taste. With a little experimentation, you can find the perfect combination of oats, water, and toppings to create a delicious and satisfying meal.
