Time 1h35m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/2 cups distilled white vinegar
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
10 whole cloves
1/4 cup crystallized ginger
2 medium jalapenos, diced
1 bunch green or red seedless grapes, plucked from stems

Steps:

  • Mix the vinegar, sugars, coriander, cinnamon and cloves together in a saucepan. Boil over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the ginger and jalapenos. Add the grapes and allow to sit at least 1 hour or preferably, overnight. Use the grapes in your next chicken or fruit salad.

Tips:

  • Choose firm, ripe grapes for pickling. Soft or damaged grapes will not hold their shape well in the pickling liquid.
  • Wash the grapes thoroughly before pickling. This will remove any dirt or debris from the grapes.
  • You can use any type of vinegar for pickling, but white wine vinegar, rice vinegar, or apple cider vinegar are good choices. Avoid using balsamic vinegar, as it has a strong flavor that can overpower the grapes.
  • Add sugar to the pickling liquid to balance out the acidity of the vinegar. You can also add other spices, such as cloves, cinnamon, or ginger, to taste.
  • Bring the pickling liquid to a boil before pouring it over the grapes. This will help to extract the flavors from the spices and ensure that the grapes are properly preserved.
  • Allow the grapes to cool completely in the pickling liquid before storing them in the refrigerator. This will help the flavors to develop and mellow.

Conclusion:

Quick pickled grapes are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or simply enjoying at home. With a variety of flavors to choose from, there is sure to be a recipe that everyone will enjoy. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy snack, give these pickled grapes a try.
