RACHAEL RAY'S SUPER SCRUMPTIOUS SLOPPY JOES

This recipe is from Food Network's Rachael Ray. I like it b/c it uses tomato sauce instead of ketchup, and you can spice it up as you like. I add more onions as well as some garlic. * I like to use a little less brown sugar, as we like ours spicier rather than sweet.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ground beef: Use a leaner ground beef, such as 85% lean or 90% lean, to reduce the amount of grease in the sloppy joes.
  • Cook the ground beef thoroughly: Cook the ground beef until it is no longer pink in the center. This will help to prevent foodborne illness.
  • Use a variety of seasonings: Don't be afraid to experiment with different seasonings to create a unique flavor for your sloppy joes. Some popular options include chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Simmer the sauce: Simmering the sauce for a longer period of time will help to develop the flavors and create a thicker, more flavorful sauce.
  • Use a variety of toppings: Sloppy joes are a great opportunity to use up leftover ingredients. Some popular toppings include cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles.
