2 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup raisins

SAUCE:
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Place bread cubes in a greased 3-qt. slow cooker. In a large bowl, beat eggs and milk; stir in the sugar, butter, raisins and cinnamon. Pour over bread; stir. , Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low; cook for 3-4 hours or until a thermometer reads 160°., For sauce, melt butter in a small saucepan. Stir in flour until smooth. Gradually add water, sugar and vanilla. 4 cups whole milk
5 cups cubed day-old bread
1 cup sugar
8 large eggs, room temperature, beaten
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup chopped dates
1/4 cup raisins

3/4 cup heavy cream
3 tablespoons powdered sugar, plus extra for garnish

8 ounces pitted dates (chopped)
8 ounces seedless raisins (large, golden kind)
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups boiling water
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder

  • Preheat oven to 160 deg Celsius.
  • Line an 8 inch cake tin with baking paper.
  • Combine chopped dates, raisins and baking soda in a large bowl.
