  • The measurements are approximate, as I always just eyeball it, so feel free to change the proportions.

Time 5h

Yield Makes 4 steaks

Number Of Ingredients 0

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, lemon juice, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, pepper, salt, and a pinch of red pepper. Add steaks to a resealable zip lock bag or large bowl and pour the marinade on top. Marinate for 2 hours or overnight.
  • Turn the skillet to high heat. Add the steaks. Cook on each side for 3 minutes or until outside is browned. Reduce heat to medium-high. Cook the steaks to the desired doneness. Mine took about 10 minutes flipping 3 times to get a medium well.
  • Top with butter and garnish with fresh parsley if desired

Tips:

  • Select the Right Steak: Choose a steak with good marbling, such as ribeye, strip, or tenderloin, for a tender and flavorful result.
  • Use a Quality Marinade: The marinade is key to infusing flavor into the steak. Use a combination of acidic ingredients (like lemon juice or vinegar) to tenderize the meat, along with herbs, spices, and seasonings for taste.
  • Marinate for Optimal Time: The ideal marinating time depends on the thickness of the steak. For thin steaks, marinate for at least 30 minutes, while thicker cuts can benefit from up to 24 hours of marinating.
  • Don't Overcrowd the Marinade: Ensure that the steak is fully submerged in the marinade, but avoid overcrowding the container. This allows for even distribution of flavors.
  • Refrigerate While Marinating: Always marinate the steak in the refrigerator to prevent bacterial growth. Discard the marinade after use.
  • Pat Dry Before Cooking: Before cooking, pat the steak dry with paper towels to remove excess marinade. This helps achieve a better sear.
  • Cook Over High Heat: Sear the steak over high heat to create a flavorful crust and lock in the juices. Reduce heat to medium-low for even cooking.
  • Use a Meat Thermometer: To ensure the steak is cooked to your desired doneness, use a meat thermometer. The internal temperature should reach 145°F for medium-rare, 160°F for medium, and 170°F for well-done.
  • Let the Steak Rest: After cooking, let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.

Conclusion:

Marinating steak is a simple yet effective technique to enhance its flavor and tenderness. By following these tips, you can create mouthwatering and juicy steaks that are perfect for any occasion. Experiment with different marinade recipes to discover your favorite flavor combinations and impress your family and friends with your culinary skills. Remember, the key to a great steak marinade lies in using quality ingredients, marinating for the appropriate time, and cooking the steak properly. With a little practice, you'll be able to master the art of steak marinating and enjoy delicious and flavorful steaks every time.
