Tips:
- Choose the right rice cooker: Not all rice cookers are created equal. For best results, choose a rice cooker with a steamer basket and a minimum capacity of 3 cups.
- Prepare your batter: Follow the recipe instructions carefully when preparing your batter. Be sure to measure your ingredients accurately and mix them until they are well combined.
- Grease the steamer basket: Before adding the batter, lightly grease the steamer basket with cooking spray or oil. This will help prevent the muffins or cakes from sticking.
- Fill the steamer basket: Pour the batter into the steamer basket, filling each cup about 2/3 full. Do not overfill the cups, or the muffins or cakes will not cook evenly.
- Place the steamer basket in the rice cooker: Place the steamer basket in the rice cooker, making sure that it is positioned securely.
- Cook the muffins or cakes: Close the lid of the rice cooker and turn it on. Set the timer according to the recipe instructions.
- Check for doneness: Once the timer goes off, open the lid of the rice cooker and insert a toothpick into the center of a muffin or cake. If the toothpick comes out clean, the muffins or cakes are done. If not, continue cooking for a few more minutes.
- Let the muffins or cakes cool: Once the muffins or cakes are done, let them cool for a few minutes before removing them from the steamer basket. This will help prevent them from breaking.
