RICH VANILLA CUSTARD SAUCE
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, flour, nutmeg or cinnamon, the egg, melted butter, milk, and salt. Whisk until well blended and then place the pan over medium heat.
- Cook, whisking constantly until the mixture has thickened and coats the back of the spoon. To test, dip a spoon in the thickened mixture and turn it over. Run a finger down the back of a spoon. If the mixture does not run into the path your finger made, the sauce is done.
- Place a mesh sieve over a bowl and strain the sauce through it. Stir the vanilla extract into the sauce and refrigerate, covered, until serving time.
- Serve and enjoy.

BEST BREAD PUDDING WITH VANILLA SAUCE
We found this recipe tucked inside my mom's Bible when going through her things. It has become a family tradition on the first snow day of the year and if that doesn't happen, which can be the case here in central Virginia, we know it'll be the featured dessert at Easter and anytime a comfort food is in order.

- Bake in the preheated oven until browned and set in the middle, 50 to 55 minutes; cover the dish with foil after 30 minutes to prevent excessive browning. Let the pudding stand for 10 minutes before serving.

RICH VANILLA SAUCE
Okay, so my husband decided to make crepes with raspberries and vanilla sauce for me and the kids for Valentine's Day... but he couldn't find a recipe that he liked for vanilla sauce. And let it be said that I am a HUGE vanilla sauce fan... I could eat it all by itself with a spoon! Let me just say that the vanilla sauce that he came up with was absolutely divine! I tried to drag the recipe out of him to post and this is what I got... just keep in mind that he's not the best at measuring things.... "a little bit of this and a little bit of that" technique! Hope I got it right :^)

Tips
- Use fresh vanilla beans for the best flavor. Split the beans lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add both the seeds and the bean pods to the sauce for maximum flavor infusion.
- Use heavy cream or half-and-half for a rich and creamy sauce. If you use milk, the sauce will be thinner and less flavorful.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly. Do not boil the sauce, as this will cause the cream to curdle.
- Once the sauce has thickened, remove it from the heat and strain it through a fine-mesh sieve. This will remove any lumps and ensure a smooth and silky sauce.
- Flavor the sauce with your favorite extracts or spices. Some popular options include almond extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom.
- Serve the sauce warm or cold, depending on your preference. It can be drizzled over pancakes, waffles, french toast, ice cream, or fruit.
Conclusion
Rich vanilla sauce is a versatile and delicious dessert topping that can be used in a variety of ways. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With these tips, you can make the perfect rich vanilla sauce every time. Share this recipe with your friends and family and enjoy the deliciousness!
