Tips:

  • Choose the right beets: Look for beets that are small to medium in size, as they have a more tender texture and sweeter flavor. Avoid beets that are too large, as they can be woody and bitter.
  • Roast the beets properly: Roasting the beets brings out their natural sweetness and earthy flavor. To roast the beets, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss the beets with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper. Wrap the beets in aluminum foil and roast for 45-60 minutes, or until they are tender when pierced with a fork.
  • Use a food processor: A food processor is the best tool for making hummus. It will help you achieve a smooth and creamy texture. If you don't have a food processor, you can use a blender, but the hummus may be a little less smooth.
  • Add flavorings: Once you have the basic hummus recipe down, you can start adding flavorings to taste. Some popular flavorings include garlic, lemon juice, tahini, cumin, and paprika. You can also add roasted vegetables, such as roasted red peppers or roasted eggplant.
  • Serve with your favorite dippers: Hummus is a versatile dip that can be served with a variety of dippers. Some popular dippers include pita bread, vegetable chips, and crackers. You can also use hummus as a sandwich spread or as a dressing for salads.
