Time 20m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 slices sourdough bread (or bread of your choice)
1 ounce brie cheese, room temperature
1 tablespoon baked cranberry sauce (try Baked Cranberry Sauce)
1 tablespoon butter, softened

Steps:

  • Softened butter works best on a grilled cheese. Just let it sit out and then smear it all over the bread. You only need to butter one side of each slice. This is the side that will be grilled.
  • Smear the brie and roasted cranberries onto the side of the bread that is not buttered. And sandwich it with another buttered slice(with butter on the outside). All this butter and cheese is making me hungry!
  • In my opinion, a grilled cheese sandwich is best done in a iron skillet. You don't need it to be very hot. Turn the stove to a medium-high heat, and once the skillet is warmed, add the sandwich. Let it sit for two minutes and then flip it. It should come out perfect every time!

BRIE GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH

Adapted from the Two Brothers Roundhouse restaurant in Aurora, IL which uses Brioche. Since Brioche is so hard to come by, I have substituted French Bread. The Quince Jam is the hardest to find, I found it at Williams Sonoma.

Tips:

  • Choose a ripe and flavorful Brie cheese. Avoid Brie that is too soft or runny, as it will not melt well.
  • Use a hearty bread that can stand up to the melted cheese and cranberries. A sourdough or multigrain bread works well.
  • Roast the cranberries before adding them to the sandwich. This will bring out their sweetness and tartness.
  • Spread a thin layer of cranberry sauce on one slice of bread. This will help to prevent the cranberries from making the sandwich too soggy.
  • Add a generous layer of Brie cheese to the other slice of bread.
  • Top the Brie with the roasted cranberries.
  • Butter the outsides of the bread slices and grill the sandwich in a hot skillet until the cheese is melted and gooey and the bread is golden brown.

Conclusion:

The roasted cranberry Brie grilled cheese sandwich is a delicious and easy-to-make sandwich that is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. The combination of sweet and tart cranberries, creamy Brie cheese, and buttery grilled bread is irresistible. Serve the sandwich with a side of soup or salad for a complete meal.
