  • Stir in butter and beaten egg. Add 2-1/2 cups of the grated cheese.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Freshly grated cheese, real butter, and high-quality macaroni will make a big difference in the final dish.
  • Cook the macaroni al dente: This means cooking it until it is tender but still has a slight bite to it. Overcooked macaroni will become mushy and ruin the dish.
  • Make a roux: A roux is a mixture of butter and flour that is used to thicken the cheese sauce. Making a roux will help to prevent the sauce from becoming lumpy.
  • Use a variety of cheeses: A combination of different types of cheese will give the macaroni and cheese a more complex flavor. Some good options include cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan, and Gruyère.
  • Add some extras: Feel free to add other ingredients to your macaroni and cheese, such as cooked bacon, ham, or vegetables. This will help to make the dish more flavorful and satisfying.

Conclusion:

Ronald Reagan's macaroni and cheese is a classic dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its creamy, cheesy sauce and tender macaroni, it is sure to be a hit at your next potluck or family gathering. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give this recipe a try.
