GERMAN SAUERKRAUT ROLL

German Sauerkraut Roll image

This is grilled and makes a nice meatloaf shape that can be carved into slices as an elegant grilled dinner item with a sauerbraten type of gravy or made into German burgers by serving on a bun, with an extra slice of swiss melted on top. It's different, to be sure, but in a good way, and it is delicious and all my family enjoyed.

Tips:

  • To make the dough, be sure to use warm milk and butter. This will help the yeast activate and produce a light and fluffy dough.
  • Knead the dough for at least 5 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic. This will help develop the gluten in the flour and make the dough strong.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place for at least 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size. This will give the yeast time to work and produce carbon dioxide gas, which will make the dough light and airy.
  • When shaping the buns, be sure to pinch the edges together tightly. This will help prevent the filling from leaking out.
  • Bake the buns at a high temperature for a short amount of time. This will help create a crispy crust and a soft and fluffy interior.

Conclusion:

Sauerkraut beef buns are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or meal. They are perfect for a party or potluck, and they can also be made ahead of time and frozen. With a few simple tips, you can make sure your sauerkraut beef buns turn out perfect every time.
