Time 15m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 tablespoon italian mixed herbs
1 teaspoon thyme
3 large garlic cloves, pressed
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1/2 cup wine (red for meat, white, fish dinner)
2 cups sliced mushrooms
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Melt butter in olive oil over low heat.
  • Add italian herbs, thyme, garlic, dried onion and Worcestershire sauce. Warm for about 10 minutes, do not let garlic burn.
  • Increase heat to medium, add wine and stir to mix.
  • Add sliced mushrooms, stir to coat.
  • Reduce to low hat and simmer for about 5 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose the right mushrooms: Cremini, shiitake, and oyster mushrooms are the most popular choices for sautéing. They have a firm texture and a rich flavor.
  • Clean the mushrooms properly: Use a damp cloth or paper towel to wipe away any dirt or debris from the mushrooms. Do not wash them under running water, as this can make them soggy.
  • Slice the mushrooms evenly: This will help them cook evenly. If the mushrooms are too thick, they will take longer to cook and may not cook evenly.
  • Use a hot skillet: This will help the mushrooms sear and develop a nice brown color.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet: If you overcrowd the skillet, the mushrooms will not cook evenly and will release too much liquid.
  • Season the mushrooms: Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are a classic seasoning combination for sautéed mushrooms. You can also add other herbs and spices to taste.
  • Cook the mushrooms until they are tender: The mushrooms should be cooked until they are tender, but not mushy. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
  • Serve the mushrooms immediately: Sautéed mushrooms are best served immediately. They can be served as a side dish, a topping for burgers or steaks, or in a pasta dish.

Conclusion:

Sautéed mushrooms are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways. By following these tips, you can make perfect sautéed mushrooms every time. Whether you are serving them as a side dish, a topping, or in a main course, sautéed mushrooms are sure to be a hit.
