RACHEL'S WASABI COCKTAIL SAUCE

Rachel's Wasabi Cocktail Sauce image

This is cocktail sauce with a kick. You have to like wasabi to enjoy this. We really make this with double the wasabi, but thought it might be too much for some people. Start with a little and add until you get the flavor you like. If you add too much just increase the ketchup.

SHRIMP COCKTAIL WITH WASABI COCKTAIL SAUCE RECIPE

SHRIMP COCKTAIL WITH WASABI COCKTAIL SAUCE Recipe image

Provided by akselden

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 tsp. powdered wasabi
3/4 cup ketchup
2 tbsp. prepared horseradish
1 ripe avocado, peeled, pitted, and diced
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 lb. frozen small cooked shrimp, thawed
2 cups shredded romaine lettuce
Thin lemon wedges for garnish

Steps:

  • In small bowl mix wasabi with 2 tsp water; let stand 10 minutes. Stir in ketchup and horseradish. Toss avocado with lemon juice. Evenly divide avocado into 20 shot glasses. Layer shrimp, cocktail sauce, lettuce; top with lemon wedges.

Tips:

  • For the best shrimp cocktail, use large, fresh shrimp.
  • Cook the shrimp properly. Overcooked shrimp will be tough and rubbery.
  • Make sure the cocktail sauce is well-seasoned. A bland sauce will not do the shrimp justice.
  • Serve the shrimp cocktail immediately after it is made. The shrimp will start to lose its flavor if it sits for too long.
  • Garnish the shrimp cocktail with lemon wedges, cocktail picks, and fresh parsley.

Conclusion:

Shrimp cocktail is a classic appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. The wasabi cocktail sauce adds a nice kick to the traditional sauce, making this dish even more delicious. If you are looking for a simple and elegant appetizer, shrimp cocktail with wasabi cocktail sauce is the perfect choice.
