History of Baking again. Boy do I like this cook book. These bars have cashews in them. Again I haven't made them but can hardly wait.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 (6 ounce) package butterscotch chips
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 cup cashews

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix the first four ingredients together.
  • Sprinkle mixture evenly, and press firmly, into the bottom of a 13 x 9 baking pan.
  • Bake for 15 minutes and remove from oven.
  • Melt butterscotch chips, butter, and corn syrup together.
  • Pour over baked crust, sprinkle on cashews. Cool and cut into squares.

½ cup unsalted butter
1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 ⅓ cups shredded coconut

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Place butter in 13 x 9 inch pan and melt in oven. Swirl to coat bottom and sides with butter.
  • Spread graham cracker crumbs evenly over bottom of pan. Layer chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and nuts over crumbs. Pour condensed milk over nuts. Sprinkle coconut over condensed milk.
  • Bake until edges are golden brown, about 25 minutes. Let cool before cutting into bars.

½ cup butter
¼ cup white sugar
5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup shredded coconut
½ cup chopped walnuts
¼ cup butter
2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla custard powder
3 tablespoons milk
4 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 tablespoon butter

Steps:

  • Mix 1/2 cup butter or margarine, white sugar, cocoa, egg and vanilla in a heavy sauce pan or double boiler. Stir over low heat until mixture is of custard like consistency.
  • Combine graham crackers, coconut and walnuts and add to the melted mixture. Mix well and pack into buttered 9 inch square cake pan.
  • Cream 1/4 cup butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla custard powder and milk. Beat until creamy and spread over melted base.
  • Refrigerate till hardened.
  • Melt semi-sweet chocolate with 1 tablespoon butter and drizzle over custard icing. Refrigerate. When totally hard cut into square bars.

6 tablespoons flax seeds
1 cup dates (soaked in 1-2 C water-save water and use in recipe)
2 ripe bananas
1 cup unsweetened flaked coconut
2 tablespoons ground flax seeds (optional)
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon kosher salt (to taste)
1/2 cup raisins
3 tablespoons vegan butter (or neutral oil)
1/2 cup water
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 cup maple syrup (optional)
1 tablespoon oil
1 cup non-dairy chocolate chips (optional)
1/4 cup dried cranberries (optional)

Steps:

  • Soak dates in water for at least 30 minutes. Blend dates, soaking water and bananas until smooth.
  • Combine ground flax with 1/4 C warm water and stir. Let sit for 15+ minutes to create a "vegan egg." If not using ground flax grind your chia seeds before mixing into water.
