Tips:
- Choose ripe cantaloupe: Look for melons that are symmetrical and have a deep orange color. Avoid melons that have bruises or soft spots.
- Cut the cantaloupe into uniform pieces: This will help them cook evenly. To easily cut the cantaloupe into wedges, first cut it in half from top to bottom. Then, cut each half into thirds. Remove the seeds from each wedge and then cut each wedge in half lengthwise.
- Soak the cantaloupe skewers in water: This will help prevent them from burning on the grill. Soak the skewers for at least 30 minutes before grilling.
- Brush the cantaloupe skewers with melted butter or olive oil: This will help them brown and caramelize on the grill.
- Grill the cantaloupe skewers over medium heat: This will help them cook evenly without burning. Grill the skewers for about 10 minutes per side, or until they are slightly charred and tender.
- Serve the cantaloupe skewers immediately: They are best enjoyed warm off the grill.
- Get creative with your skewers: You can add other fruits and vegetables to your skewers, such as pineapple, mango, watermelon, or zucchini. You can also add herbs, such as mint or basil.
Conclusion:
Grilled cantaloupe skewers are a delicious and easy summer treat. They are perfect for parties, picnics, or potlucks. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a dish that is both refreshing and flavorful. So next time you are looking for a healthy and delicious snack, give grilled cantaloupe skewers a try.
