SKILLET-BAKED SPAGHETTI WITH MEAT SAUCE

Skillet-Baked Spaghetti With Meat Sauce image

Received from The Witchita Eagle via email (originally from Cook's Country). Adapted because the original recipe called for adding the uncooked spaghetti with the tomatoes & cooking till al dente. The sauce sounded especially nice & sounded like a quick but tasty dinner with a mixed salad from the garden. You'll need an oven-safe skillet for this recipe. Plastic-handled Teflon pans aren't going to work.

SPAGHETTI BAKE WITH MEAT SAUCE & 3 CHEESES

Spaghetti Bake With Meat Sauce & 3 Cheeses image

I made this this week and we all liked it. It's from The Big Book of Casseroles by Maryana Vollstedt. I substituted ground chicken for the beef, used linquini, and upped the herbs to a half teaspoon each. The pasta absorbs the sauce while baking so it is really tasty.

Tips:

  • Use a large skillet: A large skillet will give the spaghetti plenty of room to cook evenly and prevent it from becoming mushy.
  • Brown the ground beef well: Browning the ground beef well will help to develop its flavor and prevent it from becoming greasy.
  • Use a flavorful meat sauce: A flavorful meat sauce will make all the difference in the overall taste of the dish. Be sure to use a sauce that you enjoy the taste of.
  • Cook the spaghetti al dente: Al dente means "to the tooth" in Italian and refers to the ideal doneness of pasta. When pasta is cooked al dente, it is still slightly firm to the bite.
  • Don't overmix the spaghetti and sauce: Overmixing the spaghetti and sauce will make the spaghetti mushy. Gently stir the spaghetti into the sauce until it is evenly coated.
  • Top with cheese and serve immediately: Top the spaghetti with grated Parmesan cheese and serve immediately. The cheese will melt and add a delicious flavor to the dish.

Conclusion:

Skillet baked spaghetti with meat sauce is a quick and easy weeknight meal that is sure to please the whole family. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and hearty dish that everyone will love.
