CRISPY, CREAMY CHICKEN CORDON BLEU RECIPE BY TASTY

Steps:
- Sprinkle the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, tossing to coat evenly.
- On a cutting board, place a chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound until about ½ inch (1 cm) thick with a meat mallet, rolling pin, or heavy pan.
- Remove the plastic wrap and place 2 slices of Swiss cheese, then 2 slices of ham, then another layer of Swiss cheese, and another layer of ham. Evenly roll the chicken and place onto a new sheet of plastic wrap.
- Wrap the chicken in the plastic wrap tightly and use the excess plastic on the sides to twist, firming up the roll of chicken cordon bleu as you work. Tie the excess plastic. Repeat with the remaining ingredients, then chill the rolls in the fridge to set for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, preheat a tall-sided pan with 2 inches (5 cm) of oil to 325°F (170°C).
- After the rolls are set, prepare 2 separate large, wide dishes with the flour, beaten egg, and bread crumbs. Dredge the chicken first in the flour, then the egg, and then bread crumbs.
- Place the breaded chicken cordon bleu in the oil and cook for about 5 minutes per side, or until the outside is an even golden brown. If a good color is achieved and the chicken's center is still not 165°F (75°C), place the chicken cordon bleu on a wire rack set over a baking sheet and finish the chicken in the oven at 325°F (170°C) until that temperature is reached.
- Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. In a 1 ½-quart saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and cook the garlic until soft. Add the flour and whisk for 1 minute.
- Add the milk and whisk until fully combined with the roux and no lumps remain. Continue whisking until the mixture comes to a simmer and has thickened.
- Add the mustard, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper and whisk to combine. Remove the pan from the heat.
- Slice the chicken and serve drizzled with Dijon sauce.
- Enjoy!

SLOW COOKER CHICKEN CORDON BLEU
Aquired this through a recipe swap and love that it doesn't use canned soup like the others I've seen. Prep the chicken bundles the night before and you'll be out the door in no time in the morning.

Steps:
- Place chicken breasts between 2 sheets of plastic wrap. Flatten to ¼" thickness. Season with a pinch each salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Fold cheese so it is about ½" narrower than ham. Place cheese on ham and fold in each of the long sides and then roll from one short end, burrito-style. This will help prevent the cheese from running out during the cooking process. Place one ham roll on a narrow end of each piece chicken and roll into a bundle.
- Wrap a piece of bacon lengthwise around each chicken bundle and secure with a toothpick. Ensure the bacon tightly covers the ends of the bundle as it will also help prevent leaky cheese. Place the bundles into slow cooker.
- Combine ½ cup water, bouillon and wine. Pour over chicken. Cover and cook 5-6 hours on LOW.
- Just before serving, remove chicken from slow cooker. If needed, strain cooking liquid and return to slow cooker. Switch heat to HIGH. Combine cornstarch with remaining ½ cup water. Stir ½ cup of slow cooker liquid into the cornstarch mixture to temper and then add that back to slow cooker. Stir well until sauce thickens.
- Serve chicken and sauce over rice.

Tips:
- To achieve a crispy and golden-brown crust on your chicken, make sure to sear it in a pan before transferring it to the slow cooker.
- Use a good quality Swiss cheese for a rich and flavorful sauce. Grating your own cheese is also recommended for a better melting texture.
- Don't overcrowd the slow cooker. If you're making a large batch, consider cooking in batches or using a bigger slow cooker.
- Cooking times may vary depending on the size and type of chicken breasts you're using, as well as the power of your slow cooker. Always check the internal temperature of the chicken to ensure it's cooked through before serving.
- For a more flavorful dish, consider using a flavorful cooking liquid such as chicken broth or white wine instead of water.
- Serve the chicken cordon bleu immediately after cooking, while the cheese is still melted and gooey. You can garnish with fresh parsley or chives for a pop of color and flavor.
