The mixture sounds weird but it is actually very good. You can add potatoes and carrots if you want during the last couple of hours. This is a good recipe if you aren't going to be home all day to watch it.

Tips:

  • Choose a high-quality brisket: Look for a brisket that is well-marbled with fat, as this will help to keep it moist during the cooking process.
  • Trim the brisket: Before cooking, trim the brisket of any excess fat. This will help to reduce the cooking time and prevent the brisket from becoming too greasy.
  • Season the brisket generously: Season the brisket with a generous amount of salt, pepper, and your favorite spices. This will help to create a flavorful crust on the outside of the brisket.
  • Sear the brisket: Before cooking the brisket in the slow cooker, sear it in a hot skillet. This will help to caramelize the outside of the brisket and lock in the juices.
  • Use a flavorful liquid: When cooking the brisket in the slow cooker, use a flavorful liquid such as beef broth, red wine, or apple cider. This will help to add moisture and flavor to the brisket.
  • Cook the brisket on low heat: Cook the brisket on low heat for 8-10 hours, or until it is fall-apart tender. This will help to ensure that the brisket is cooked evenly and remains moist.

Conclusion:

Slow cooker sweet and savory brisket of beef is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a special occasion or a casual weeknight dinner. By following the tips above, you can create a brisket that is fall-apart tender, flavorful, and sure to impress your guests.
