EASY CROCK POT TURKEY LEGS

Easy Crock Pot Turkey Legs image

Turkey legs taste great prepared with the oil alone or with the oil and seasonings both. A flavorful option is to use the oil with parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme as seasonings. You may make gravy with the drippings or use it as turkey broth in soup and other recipes. The broth is especially good in Progresso BestLife lentil soup to which you also add some leftover turkey and some turkey ham cubes. An oval slow cooker is easiest fit for turkey legs. Put an oval rack under legs and watch cooking time if you want firmer legs, often separate from broth.

Tips:

  • Choose the right turkey legs: Look for turkey legs that are plump and have evenly distributed meat. Avoid legs that are bruised or have any signs of damage.
  • Season the turkey legs well: Use a flavorful blend of herbs and spices to season the turkey legs before cooking. This will help to enhance the flavor of the meat.
  • Brown the turkey legs before slow cooking: Browning the turkey legs in a pan over medium heat will help to create a crispy outer layer and seal in the juices.
  • Use a good quality slow cooker: A slow cooker that is large enough to accommodate the turkey legs is essential. Make sure that the slow cooker has a tight-fitting lid to prevent the moisture from evaporating.
  • Cook the turkey legs on low heat: Cooking the turkey legs on low heat for 6-8 hours will allow the meat to become tender and fall off the bone.
  • Let the turkey legs rest before serving: Once the turkey legs are cooked, let them rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

Conclusion:

Slow cooker turkey legs are a delicious and easy way to enjoy a classic Thanksgiving meal. By following these tips, you can ensure that your turkey legs turn out moist, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone tender. Whether you are a seasoned chef or a beginner in the kitchen, slow cooker turkey legs are a great option for a stress-free and delicious holiday meal.
