Steps:
- Add oil to a skillet on the stove top. Heat to medium-high heat. Once pan is hot, add the ground meat. Saute the meat, stirring occasionally, until browned. If your turkey or beef isn't very lean you may want to drain the grease. (I find that isn't necessary when using 93% lean.)
- Reduce heat to medium low. Add canned crushed tomatoes, water, tomato paste, garlic, oregano, basil, parsley, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper to skillet with the meat. Stir to combine. Cover and gently simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until everything is heated through and flavors have married.
- Serve over your favorite pasta, spaghetti squash (see my recipe for Roasted Spaghetti Squash), or zoodles. You can even add it to the top of roasted veggies for a satisfying but light meal!

MOM'S BEST SPAGHETTI SAUCE
A simple, slow cooked, authentic spaghetti sauce, as good as the restaurants serve...or better! The secret ingredient is baking soda, but do not taste the sauce right after adding it. Wait a while, and this sauce will not disappoint you. It is good right from the stove, but the flavors blend overnight. Best served with your favorite meatball recipe, where the meatballs cook in the sauce the last half hour. Be prepared to take a nap after eating.

Tips:
- Use ripe, juicy tomatoes for the best flavor. You can use fresh, canned, or crushed tomatoes.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when browning the meat. This will prevent the meat from cooking evenly and will make it tough.
- If you don't have any tomato paste, you can use tomato sauce instead. Just reduce the amount of liquid you add to the sauce.
- Add a pinch of sugar to the sauce to help balance the acidity of the tomatoes.
- Simmer the sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the sauce over your favorite pasta, such as spaghetti, linguine, or penne.
Conclusion:
This classic spaghetti sauce is a delicious and versatile dish that can be used in a variety of meals. It's a great way to use up leftover tomatoes, and it's also a budget-friendly meal that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dinner, give this spaghetti sauce a try. You won't be disappointed!
