SPICY HONEY GLAZED CHICKEN

This is a simple worknight dish that will totally surprise you with flavor. It's great because every cook I know has all of these ingredients in their cupboards already! I got this recipe from a Cooking Light magazine and I serve it with pan fried broccoli and sweet hawaiian rolls. You can either use chicken breasts, or chicken thighs, and I recommend using boneless and skinless! This has only a medium spicy level, so just increase or decrease red pepper flakes to your taste... and enjoy!

SPICY HONEY - GLAZED CHICKEN THIGHS

Spicy Honey - Glazed Chicken Thighs image

This chicken is wonderfully sweet and spicy..not too sweet..just right with the spices. It kind of reminds me of the Chinese chicken on a stick. My family loves it..kept asking when I would make it again. I used thighs, I am sure you could use breasts. I like thighs, because they are always moist and to me more flavorful. Also,...

Number Of Ingredients 9

6-8 boneless skinless chicken thighs
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon chili powder
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Steps:

  • 1. Mix spices together and set aside. Mix honey and cider vinegar and set aside. 2. Un-tuck chicken thighs so they are flat. Cover both sides in seasoning and set flat onto a greased baking sheet. 3. Set broiler on low and broil for 5-7 minutes. Flip thighs and broil for another 5-7 minutes. 4. Flip thighs again and baste each chicken piece with the honey/cider mixture. Be sure to cover the chicken completely. Return to the oven and broil for a few more minutes, just until the honey starts to thicken up and glaze (it may smoke a little but this is completely normal). 5. Remove chicken from oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving. navywifecook.com

Tips:

  • To ensure the chicken is cooked thoroughly, use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature has reached 165°F (74°C).
  • If you don't have a meat thermometer, you can also check if the chicken is done by cutting into the thickest part of the thigh and making sure that the juices run clear.
  • For a spicier glaze, increase the amount of chili powder or cayenne pepper.
  • If you don't have honey, you can substitute it with maple syrup or brown sugar.
  • To make the glaze thicker, simmer it for a few minutes longer.
  • Serve the chicken with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

This spicy honey glazed chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The chicken is juicy and flavorful, and the glaze is sweet, spicy, and sticky. Serve it with your favorite sides for a complete meal that the whole family will enjoy.
