Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 2h5m

Yield 30 bowls, 30 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 (15 ounce) bags old dutch thins fat free pretzels
1/2 cup vegetable oil or 1/2 cup canola oil
4 teaspoons garlic powder
4 teaspoons lemon pepper
2 (1 ounce) packages hidden valley ranch dressing mix
4 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon soy sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat Oven at 250º.
  • Get your basic turkey roaster pan and spray the inside with no-stick cooking spray.
  • Grab handfuls of pretzels and place them evenly in the roaster, try to avoid dumping in all the excess salt and broken pieces on the bottom of the bag.
  • Hand mix together all other ingredients in a seperate bowl until all ingredients are mixed up really well.
  • Pour this mixture evenly over the pretzels in the pan.
  • Place the lid on and grasp the handles and lid tight and shake the pretzels so that they all are evenly coated.
  • Place in the oven for 2 hours, stirring and shaking every 30 minutes.
  • Make sure you stir up the pretzels on the bottom of the pan otherwise they will get burnt. When they are done cooking, I usually set the roaster out and let them cool for 15-20 minutes. After that I place them in a large bowl for serving.

These are great to bag up for gifts or to just have around for family snacks. The not so spicey version was a hit for the 2nd grade Christmas party and the little ones at the family gathering. The spicy version was a hit at the family Christmas gathering.

Time 5m

Yield 10-15 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup oil
1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic (use granules)
1 (1 ounce) package dry ranch dressing mix
1 -1 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 (16 ounce) bag pretzels (use small clover shaped or sticks, the big ones break when you stir)

Steps:

  • Mix everything except pretzels in a large bowl(I use a big plastic salad bowl).
  • Just a pinch of cayenne for the little ones.
  • Pour pretzels in on top of the sauce. Stir until well coated. I just toss it like a salad.
  • Make sure all of the goodies are off of the bottom of the bowl and on the pretzels.
  • You can eat them right away, but they are less messy if you let them sit a bit while the pretzels absorb the oil.
  • Store in an airtight container.
  • Enjoy!

SPICY PRETZELS

Spicy Pretzels image

Our son found this recipe in his recipe box and he had never fixed it so he brought the pretzels over along with the popping and topping oil and made up a batch for us to share with him. They are very spicy and really make a nice snack. If you want to tone the spicy down use less cayenne. We used the full amount and loved it. ...

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 lb pretzels
2 Tbsp garlic powder
3 tsp lemon pepper
2 tsp cayenne pepper
2 pkg dry ranch dressing mix
1 bottle orville redenbacher's popping and topping oil

Steps:

  • 1. Place pretzels in a kitchen size plastic garbage bag.
  • 2. Mix all the spices together in a bowl and sprinkle over the pretzels.
  • 3. Pour 1 (16 oz) bottle of the popping and topping oil over the pretzels, close the bag and shake. Let sit for 12 hours shaking every couple of hours.
  • 4. The finished pretzels will fill 4 gallon size zip lock bags. Enough for yourself and some to give away.

Tips:

  • Use fresh pretzels: Fresh pretzels will give you the best results. If you can't find fresh pretzels, you can use day-old pretzels, but they won't be as crispy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pretzels: When baking the pretzels, make sure to leave enough space between them so that they can cook evenly.
  • Watch the pretzels closely: The pretzels will burn easily, so keep an eye on them while they're baking.
  • Use a variety of toppings: You can use any type of topping you like on your spicy pretzels. Some popular options include chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
  • Get creative: Don't be afraid to experiment with different flavors and toppings. You can create your own unique spicy pretzel recipe that you and your friends will love.

Conclusion:

Spicy pretzels are a delicious and easy-to-make snack that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They're perfect for parties, picnics, or just a quick snack at home.
