Categories     Breads

Time 17m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 lb hot pork sausage
1 lb extra-sharp cheddar cheese
3 cups biscuit mix (bisquick)

Steps:

  • Grate the cheese and add to a skillet on the stove. Add the sausage to the cheese, stirring it together until all combined and smooth on medium heat and heat until the cheese is melted. You are not trying to cook the sausage.
  • Then add the biscuit mix and combine. Cover and refrigerate dough for 30 minutes.
  • Heat the oven to 400°F.
  • On a cookie sheet pan (flat pan) roll the dough into small balls. About 1 inch diameter, and bake for 8-10 minutes -- or longer depending on your taste.

Nutrition Facts : Calories 494, Fat 34.8, SaturatedFat 16.1, Cholesterol 82.8, Sodium 1072.9, Carbohydrate 23.7, Fiber 0.8, Sugar 4.4, Protein 20.6

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the cheese balls will be. Look for fresh, flavorful cheese and sausage, and use a good quality breadcrumb or cracker crumb.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will make the cheese balls tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough before frying: Chilling the dough will help the cheese balls hold their shape and prevent them from falling apart in the fryer.
  • Fry the cheese balls in hot oil: The oil should be hot enough to fry the cheese balls quickly, but not so hot that they burn. Use a deep fryer or a large saucepan with a few inches of oil.
  • Drain the cheese balls on paper towels: After frying, drain the cheese balls on paper towels to remove any excess oil.

Conclusion:

Spicy sausage cheese balls are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that are perfect for any party or gathering. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a tasty snack that everyone will love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give these spicy sausage cheese balls a try.
