COREY'S STEAK, CHEESE, AND MUSHROOM SUBS

Corey's Steak, Cheese, and Mushroom Subs image

At lease once a week my family enjoys these subs. Shaved steak, sharp American cheese, fresh mushrooms on soft toasted scala sub rolls, and I serve them with steak fries with chicken gravy and bread n' butter pickles...and an ice cold beer for the adults. Add ketchup or any veggies like green leafy lettuce, fresh tomatoes, mayo, or blue cheese dressing. We like ours with a squirt of ketchup on the side for dipping. Enjoy!

Tips:

1. Choose High-Quality Steak: The key to a great steak sub is using high-quality steak. Look for well-marbled cuts like ribeye, strip, or flank steak. These cuts will be tender and flavorful when cooked properly. Avoid using cheap, thin steaks, as they will be tough and dry.

2. Cook the Steak Properly: The ideal temperature for cooking steak is medium-rare (135°F internal temperature). This will give you a juicy, tender steak with a slightly pink center. If you overcook the steak, it will become dry and tough. Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the steak is cooked to your desired doneness.

3. Use Fresh, High-Quality Ingredients: The other ingredients in your steak sub are just as important as the steak itself. Use fresh vegetables, crisp lettuce, and a flavorful cheese. Avoid using processed or pre-packaged ingredients, as they will not taste as good.

4. Don't Overcrowd the Sub: When assembling your steak sub, don't overcrowd it with too many ingredients. The key is to create a balanced flavor profile, so don't go overboard with the toppings. Use just enough ingredients to complement the steak without overpowering it.

5. Toast the Sub Roll: Toasting the sub roll will give it a crispy exterior and a chewy interior. This will help to hold all of the ingredients together and make the sub more enjoyable to eat. You can toast the sub roll in a toaster oven or on a grill.

Conclusion:

With these tips in mind, you can make a delicious steak sub that will satisfy your cravings. Experiment with different types of steak, toppings, and sauces to find your perfect combination. And don't forget to enjoy your sub with a cold beer or soda!
