CLASSIC RANCH WITH BROCCOLI DIPPERS

Classic Ranch with Broccoli Dippers image

It doesn't get more classic than ranch dip but we've punched things up by forgetting about the pre-made seasoning packet and opting for a homemade version with buttermilk and loads of fresh herbs. For a healthy dipper, we blanched broccoli florets in boiling water until crisp-tender, then dunked them in ice water to keep them from overcooking.

  • Lighter Ranch Dip Variation: To make a lighter version of the ranch dip, use Greek yogurt or low-fat sour cream instead of mayonnaise. You can also reduce the amount of butter and season it with fresh herbs like dill, chives, or parsley.
  • Add-Ins for Extra Flavor: Experiment with different ingredients to enhance the flavor of the steamed broccoli and ranch dip. Try adding roasted garlic, crumbled bacon, chopped nuts (such as almonds or walnuts), or a sprinkle of shredded cheese (like Parmesan or cheddar) to the broccoli before serving.
  • Healthy Snack Option: Steamed broccoli with lighter ranch dip is a nutritious and satisfying snack. It's low in calories and carbohydrates, making it a guilt-free option when you're craving something crunchy and flavorful.
